Great news for Nepal’s animals!

For the first time, Nepal’s parliament has passed a law criminalising cruelty against animals. In the Muluki Criminal Code 2016 (the most important legal document after the Constitution) it is now prohibited to beat or strike any animal, compel any animal to carry heavy loads or run faster than its normal capacity, compel any animal to work who is injured or sick or unable because of some reason, give intoxicated foods to an animal, or torture or cause cruelty to an animal by any means. Any person found guilty of this crime will be subject to 3 month’s imprisonment or 5,000 NPR (50 USD) fine or both.
